Residents to use new Marquette parking meters next week

MARQUETTE, MI--   Downtown Marquette’s newly installed parking meters go live on Monday.

Downtown Development Authority officials say the 365 meters feature smart technology and payment options including coins, credit, and debit cards. The parking rate will still be 50 cents an hour, but users can choose to pay a quarter and receive a half-hour, instead.

Parking time limits, rates, and enforcement hours are displayed on each meter. Officials say future plans include paying by phone.

All parking meter and rental permit parking revenue is reinvested by the DDA into the parking system for snow removal and improvements to parking lots, sidewalks, walkways, and lighting.
