Rep. Benishek on possible energy rate increases

en.wikimedia.org

Undated - US Representative Dan Benishek is reaching out to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in an effort to help avert major energy rate increases for U.P. residents. The Crystal Falls Republican says individuals are facing increases of about $30 per month and small business up to $500 per month as soon as December. In a letter to the commission, Benishek says – quote – we have a commitment for a new natural gas power plant in the U.P. in the very near future, but this won’t work if FERC insists on raising rates in the interim – end quote. The letter is also signed by Governor Rick Snyder, Attorney General Bill Schuette, and House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton.
