Rededication of Father Marquette Park set for July 15

MARQUETTE, MI--   The City of Marquette and the Marquette Beautification and Restoration Committee, Inc. invite the community to the rededication of Father Marquette Park on Sunday, July 15 at 2 p.m.

The rededication ceremony will take place, rain or shine, at the Park, nestled between Front Street, Baraga Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard. A special prelude will be performed by the Marquette Symphony Summer Strings. The ceremony will be immediately followed by a cake and ice cream social on the City boardwalk adjacent to the Hampton Inn. The event is free and open to the Pubic. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the Hampton Inn. The event is free and open the public. No seating will be provided.

The Park’s improvements include new universal accessible pathways, picnic area,

irrigation, security cameras and public art created by Ryan Brayak. This special public art addition is made possible by the generosity of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail Authority and promises to become a much-anticipated stop on this historic interpretive trail. In addition, a flower garden in memory of former Beautification President, Tami Dawidowski and a scenic overlook in honor of former City Community Services Director Karl G. Zueger will be dedicated.
