MARQUETTE, MI--   Communities in four Upper Peninsula counties are among 22 around the state to receive a Recreation Passport grant through the Department of Natural Resources.

The money is used to help complete outdoor recreation facility renovations and improvements.

Among the projects awarded, Delta County’s Nahma Township has received more than $52,000 to develop a trailhead for several user groups; the City of Iron Mountain is getting $58,000 to renovate tennis courts at the recreation complex; and the City of Menominee has been given more than $46,000 to upgrade electrical service at River Park Campground.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
