Price of gas rises 13 cents

DEARBORN, MI (AP)--   AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have risen by about 13 cents a gallon in the past week.

The Dearborn-based auto club says Sunday the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.39 per gallon. That's about 35 cents less than it was at the same point last year.

The lowest average price was about $2.36 per gallon in the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland areas, while the highest average was about $2.43 per gallon in the Traverse City area.

AAA says prices are rising in part due to more expensive crude oil costs brought about by wildfires in Canada and supply disruptions in other oil-producing countries.

AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
