Prelim for former Mutineers GM to continue in July

MARQUETTE, MI--   The preliminary hearing for a Marquette man accused of embezzlement has been adjourned to next month.

Brice Burge, 28, was the general manager of the Marquette Mutineers hockey team from November of 2016 to this past March. He’s charged with two counts of embezzlement from a non-profit or charitable organization.

During a preliminary exam Wednesday chairman of the Mutineers board Gary Enright claimed Burge spent thousands of dollars without authorization. The defense says Burge never received a salary in accordance with the organization’s bylaws.

The judge has allowed more time for the continuation of the preliminary hearing, set for July 26 in Marquette County District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
