Power restored in Houghton County after poles hit

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI--   An accident with a logging truck knocked out electricity to 1,300 residents in Houghton County Monday.

Around 8:30 a.m. logging equipment hit and broke two utility poles on a major distribution line near Atlantic Mine.  Upper Peninsula Power Company customers from Atlantic Mine to Painesdale lost power, and students from two schools were dismissed early.

UPPCO completed repairs and restored power by late afternoon.
