Police look for vehicle, find meth lab in Bessemer

BESSEMER, MI--   A meth lab was discovered in a Bessemer residence by troopers looking for a stolen vehicle.

On Tuesday State Police from the Wakefield Post received a tip about a stolen vehicle from Arizona.  Troopers found and recovered the vehicle from a home in Bessemer.

While they were arresting Matt Lander, 35, and Lisa Olivas, 28, for unlawfully driving away an auto, they discovered a meth lab in the house, which was also occupied by children.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team responded and removed the lab and hazardous materials.

Additional charges are being sought against Lander and Olivas, and possibly other suspects.

The case remains under investigation.
