Police find stolen gun in Gwinn man's possession

GWINN, MI--    Forsyth Township Police have apprehended a man wanted for being a parole absconder.

Wednesday around 11:25 p.m. officers responded to the area of the Ace Hardware on a tip the suspect was in the vicinity and was on meth. Officers located the man—identified as 26-year-old Steven Baker of Gwinn—in a nearby laundromat. He tried to run out another door but officers caught and searched him. They found a loaded gun that was reported stolen in 2013 in his front pants pocket.

Baker is lodged in the Marquette County Jail for carrying a concealed weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
