Plow rolls over in Skandia Township

SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Alger County plow driver suffered only minor injuries when the vehicle rolled over in Skandia Township on Saturday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 8:30 a.m. on US-41 just inside the Marquette County line. Terry Tyner, 53, of Limestone was northbound and removing snow when the wing blade dropped below the road surface onto the shoulder. It caught on the road edge, causing a slingshot effect. Tyner says the plow spun around 180 degrees and rolled over.

The truck spilled a full load of salt onto the road edge.

Tyner was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
