Ottenwess resigns as Traverse City manager

TRAVERSE CITY, MI--   Ishpeming’s former city manager has resigned from his current city manager position in Traverse City. 

A report indicates police were called to Jered Ottenwess’ home February 16 and found him drunk and disorderly. 

He’s charged with two counts of domestic violence and two counts of attempted assault against a police officer. 

Ottenwess is currently in an alcohol treatment facility in Grand Rapids. 

City officials received a letter of resignation Friday afternoon.  

Ottenwess served in Ishpeming from March 2010 through July 2013. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
