One killed in Luce County house fire

LAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police are investigating a fatal house fire in Luce County.

Tuesday around 5:45 p.m. State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post and Newberry Detachment were dispatched to a residence on County Road 417 in Lakefield Township. After the fire was extinguished a deceased individual was found among the debris.

Officials say no foul play is suspected at this time, and the fire remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted by the Columbus Township Fire Department, the Michigan State Police Fire Investigator, and detectives from the Soo Post.

 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
