One injured in M-35 accident

MCFARLAND, MI--   A Rapid River man was seriously injured in a crash that shut down a portion of M-35 on Saturday.

Troopers from the Negaunee and Gladstone posts were called around 12:40 p.m. to the Marquette and Delta County line near County Road 444. They say Adam Garrison, 37, of Rapid River was northbound in a pickup towing a trailer with a snowmobile on it. Behind him, Kevin Jenkins, 24, of Gwinn was driving a semi tractor-trailer owned by KRS Transport of Gwinn.

The pickup slowed down and the semi started to pass, but the pickup turned left and drove into the path of the semi. Both vehicles jackknifed. The snowmobile fell onto the highway.

Garrison had to be extricated from the pickup. He was taken by Valley Med Flight to UPHS-Marquette. A dog in his vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Jenkins wasn’t injured in the crash.

M-35 was closed for about five hours as officials cleared the scene.
