LANSING, MI (AP)--   Olympic gold medalist ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White have been honored by leaders of their home state.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and lawmakers paid tribute to the pair during their trip to the state Capitol building on Tuesday. Snyder says they're "Michiganders through and through" and residents couldn't ask for better ambassadors for the state.

Davis and White are the first Americans to win an Olympic ice dance title. They grew up in and train in suburban Detroit and attend the University of Michigan.

Davis says it was exciting to return to the Capitol she and White toured as school kids.

Snyder also honored Teadora "Tia" Spremo, an Ann Arbor teen who won a gold medal in figure skating at the state Special Olympics Winter Games.
