Officials search for downstate woman in Alger County

ALGER COUNTY, MI--   Police are looking for a woman reported missing from downstate Cadillac on September 14.

Officials say Malvika Deshmukh was last seen by friends September 9.  Her car was found last Friday in a remote area near the North Country Trail Head near Rock River Road in Alger County.

The U.S. Forest Service, Michigan State Police, Alger County Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Natural Resources have been searching for Deshmukh but have turned up no leads.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the Alger County Sheriff at 387-4444 or Michigan State Police Negaunee Post at 475-9922.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
