Nordstrom trial date set

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   An Iron River Township man is headed to trial on felonious assault charges.

In July, Bobby Joe Nordstrom, 37, allegedly fired two shots inside his home while arguing with family members.  He barricaded himself inside a relative’s house, and after a brief standoff surrendered to police.

Nordstrom is charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol—a misdemeanor.  He faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged.

Trial is set for December.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
