MARQUETTE, MI-- Northern Michigan University came second in the recent Gift of Life Michigan Campus Challenge.
Fourteen schools engaged in the 15th annual friendly competition to register students as organ, tissue, and eye donors. NMU registered 206 students, or 2.91 percent of the student body. Wayne State won the competition by registering 465 students. About 1,400 people signed up across the state.
Gift of Life Michigan says the challenge is one of the most successful organ donation college outreach programs in the nation.
NMU received a "shout out" on its Facebook account for "holding on tight to their second-place spot and signing up more donors than last year."
