NMU numbers lower--as expected

MARQUETTE, MI--   Enrollment at Northern Michigan University is down from this time last year.

That’s according to the school’s 10th day enrollment report, which shows a 3.3 percent decline to 8,592 students; however, officials expected the drop and are encouraged by higher enrollment in other areas, including the number of new graduate students and the university’s international student population.

Steve Neiheisel is vice president for enrollment management and student services.  He says he believes Northern can buck the enrollment trend through its new branding campaign, increased online and off-campus programs, and targeted growth initiatives.
