MARQUETTE, MI-- Northern Michigan University’s Marcus Tucker was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the organization announced Monday morning.
Tucker was added to Pittsburgh's 90-man roster. He participated in the Steelers' rookie mini-camp May 6-8.
As a senior in 2015, Tucker led the Wildcats in receptions (79), tied for first in receiving touchdowns (9) and ranked second in receiving yards (813). Among GLIAC receivers, he finished eighth in receiving yards per game (73.9) and tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns. For his efforts, he became the first Wildcat since 2013 to earn a spot on the all-GLIAC first team.
Tucker also averaged 25.1 yards on kickoff returns. The two-time captain became the eighth Wildcat in program history to catch three touchdown passes in a single game against Quincy Sept. 12.
Tucker wrapped up his three years at Northern Michigan with 2,330 receiving yards, 1,618 kickoff return yards and 20 touchdown receptions. He was also named to the 2014 all-GLIAC second team.
