NMU entrepreneurship student dies unexpectedly

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Northern Michigan University community is mourning the passing of another student.

College of Business dean David Rayome says 19-year-old sophomore Matthew Osterman of Pequaming, MI died unexpectedly last Friday.  He was an entrepreneurship major.

Rayome says Osterman was “a student, a young entrepreneur, an outdoorsman, an athlete, a pianist, a family man—these were only a few of the traits that describe Matthew. We know he will be greatly missed.”

NMU football player Anthony Herbert also passed away unexpectedly in his dorm room on January 17.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
