MARQUETTE, MI-- The Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees has authorized the school to negotiate a contract with Barnes and Noble to operate the campus bookstore.
The bookstore would take the Barnes and Noble name. NMU officials say the size and technological reach of the company would allow it to compete effectively in the textbook market.
Trustees also authorized the administration to move ahead with new academic and athletic logos. Northern contracted with a graphics firm to submit ideas for a revised logo for general use and updated Wildcat logo and lettering for athletics.
More than 500 people gave feedback in focus groups. The board will meet April 6 to vote on the final designs.
