New MTU President accepts contract

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Michigan Tech Board of Trustees has negotiated a five-year contract with the university’s newly elected president. 

Beginning July 1 Dr. Richard Koubek’s salary will be $450,000 a year and he will be named a tenured professor. An at risk portion of his compensation is set up to $25,000, with annual performance objectives established by the board of trustees.

Koubek will also be granted a housing and car allowance and an employee benefit package, similar to the current president.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
