Negaunee woman trapped after rollover crash

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A woman had to be extricated from her vehicle, following a rollover accident in Negaunee Township.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened Wednesday around 7:10 p.m. on North Road.  A Dodge Caravan driven by Joni Heino, 20, of Negaunee was southbound when she lost control of the vehicle rounding a curve.  The caravan left the roadway, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof.  Heino became trapped, upside-down, in her seat belt, but was uninjured.  The Marquette County Rescue Unit and Negaunee Township Fire Department removed her from the vehicle.

Heino was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
