MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI-- One person died in a 4-wheeler accident in Marquette County over the weekend.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted Saturday around 12:10 p.m. after a mountain bike rider came upon the scene of the accident. The biker found the 4-wheeler on top of the victim, who was deceased.
The location was described as north of the Noquemanon Trailhead off of Forestville Road.
The victim has been identified as Gregory LaBonte, 56, of Negaunee. Deputies believe he was negotiating a rock barrier on a two-track trail when the ATV overturned.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Marquette County Special Operations Unit and Marquette Township Fire and Ambulance.
