National Guard flying helicopters to NMU

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two helicopters are coming to Northern Michigan University Thursday.

The Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters will be on static display for the public from 1 to 3 p.m. on the NMU soccer fields at the corner of Wright and Lincoln streets. At 3 p.m. current military members and cadets in the NMU Wildcat Battalion ROTC program will go on orientation flights.

If recent heavy snowfall has adversely impacted the field, the alternate site will be the eastern side of the Berry Events Center.

The Michigan Army National Guard is conducting the visit as an aviation officer orientation and recruiting event.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
