Names of Newberry drug suspects released

NEWBERRY, MI--   Officials have identified the suspects arrested in three Newberry drug busts this week. 

UPSET EAST detectives took Kenneth Collins, 41, Sara Nelson, 26, and Joy Derusha, 37, into custody Wednesday.  Each is charged with maintaining a drug house and delivering controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school: Collins morphine and heroin, Nelson Ritalin, and Derusha a counterfeit substance believed to be morphine.    

All remain lodged in the Luce County Jail on $50,000 bonds. 

A preliminary hearing for the three is set for February 5. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
