Names in fatal Iron County crash released

IRON COUNTY, MI--   A 14-year-old boy was the fatality in a traffic accident on US-2 near Wild River Road Wednesday.  

An SUV rear-ended an Iron County Road Commission grader that was clearing the shoulder of the road.  The driver, Angela Esbrook, 35, of Iron River, and two passengers—a 12-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy—were injured and taken to Aspirus Hospital.  Another passenger—Justin Henschel, 14—was pronounced dead at the scene.  The operator of the grader received only minor injuries. 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
