Name of man suspected in high-speed chase released

MARQUETTE, MI--   A preliminary hearing has been set for a man arrested after he led State Police on a high-speed chase near Skandia Wednesday night.

Craig Silta, 44, is charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

Troopers allegedly pursued Silta on US-41 from Skandia to Kiva, then stopped the chase when he turned down a slippery, snow-covered road.  Silta was later identified and arrested.

Silta remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $20,000 bond.  His preliminary exam is set for March 16.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
