Name of man killed in break-in attempt released

MELLEN TOWNSHIP, MI (AP)--   The name of a 19-year-old home invasion suspect who was fatally shot by a homeowner in Menominee County has been released.

Hayden Gagnon of Pulaski, Wisconsin died of multiple gunshot wounds after a break-in was reported about 5 a.m. Monday in Mellen Township.

On Wednesday, 19-year-old Matthew Franjose and 20-year-old Thomas Hartman were arraigned on home invasion charges. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 24.

Authorities say the 62-year-old homeowner called 911 and deputies arrived to find the other suspects in the woods nearby. Sheriff Kenny Marks says the homeowner "defended himself and his home."

Prosecutors plan to review the case to determine if the shooting was justified. The homeowner's name hasn't been released.
