Munising hospital gets grant

MUNISING, MI--   Munising Memorial Hospital is benefiting from a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant.

The hospital will use the $50,000 to purchase and install digital mammography equipment.  Officials say it will increase their capacity to serve the local community.

The money comes from the USDA’s Rural Development initiative.

The grant was announced by Senator Debbie Stabenow, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.  The committee has jurisdiction over rural development projects.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
