MTU receiving donation for School of Business and Economics

HOUGHTON, MI--   Alumni and longtime donors are donating $1 million to a new School of Business and Economics building project at Michigan Tech.

Richard and Joyce Ten Haken have also announced plans to give another multi-million-dollar gift through their estate to support SBE infrastructure, faculty, and students.

Richard Ten Haken says engineers and scientists need to learn to interact with business people. He says if they come up with a great product it won’t come to market without business know-how, so they’ll need to understand business concepts.

The Ten Hakens both earned BS in accounting degrees from Michigan Tech in 1970.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
