Motorcyle driver hits vehicle on CR550

POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI--   A motorcyclist has been badly injured in a traffic crash in Powell Township.

State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened Wednesday around 11:15 a.m. on County Road 550 just north of County Road KN. Troopers say a 21-year-old man from Cadott, Wisconsin was northbound on his motorcycle and driving directly behind a Honda Odyssey driven by a 16-year-old Champion girl. The Odyssey slowed down and attempted to make a left-hand turn. The motorcycle was unable to stop and struck the back of the Honda.

The motorcycle driver was taken to UPHS-Marquette, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver and passenger of the odyssey were not injured.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
