More police on the road to catch drunk drivers this weekend

LANSING, MI (AP)--  Law enforcement officials in Michigan are stepping up patrols aimed at stopping drunken drivers over the next two weeks.

Police officers, sheriff's deputies and state troopers around the state are working on the federally funded patrols.

The crackdown will involve nearly 150 agencies in 26 counties, including Chippewa, Delta, Houghton, and Marquette.

During last year's Fourth of July crackdown, the state says 115 motorists were arrested for drunken driving as a result of extra patrols.
