More arrests in Doyle Township triple homicide

MANISTIQUE, MI--   State Police have arrested two more people in connection with the triple murder in Schoolcraft County.

Troopers from the St. Ignace Post say they’ve apprehended Garry Cordell, 46, and Marietta Carlson, 28—both of Manistique—on multiple charges related to the deaths of Jody Hutchinson, Carrie Nelson, and Heather Aldrich in April.  Cordell and Carlson had been held on unrelated charges prior to their most recent arrest.

The first suspect to be apprehended in the case, Kenneth Brunke, 45, of Manistique, was recently extradited to Michigan from Illinois, where he was arrested.

Barring discovery of additional evidence, the State Police does not expect to seek charges against any additional people in connection to the deaths.

The case remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
