Missing women found in good health

LUCE COUNTY, MI--   Two women reported missing after they visited family in West Ishpeming April 11 have been found safe.

A Michigan State Police helicopter located Leslie Roy, 52, and Lee Wright, 56, around 2:20 Friday afternoon at the Crisp Point Lighthouse in Northern Luce County.  It’s a remote area on the shore of Lake Superior.

Officials said the women’s vehicle got stuck on Crisp Point Road, and the two have been there for the past two weeks.

After the chopper landed on the beach officers began rendering first aid and arranging for the women to be taken to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for treatment.  Police say Roy and Wright are in good condition but a little weak after having been stuck for days.

Roy and Wright were last seen leaving West Ishpeming the morning of April 11.  They never arrived at their Mackinaw City hotel, and family reported them missing April 15.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
