Missing man with dementia found in Houghton County

HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI--   A DeTour man declared missing in Houghton County has been found. 

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were contacted Tuesday just before 10 a.m. They were told the 62-year-old man with dementia went missing from his daughter’s vehicle, which was on M-26 near Bunker Hill.

The man was located on M-26 near Ripley around 11:20 a.m. and was returned to his daughter in good health.

Deputies were assisted by the Lake Linden Village Police Department, Michigan State Police, a State Police K-9, and Superior Search and Rescue.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
