LANSING, MI (AP)-- Michigan has received more than $5.5 million in federal money to help strengthen its health emergency preparedness efforts.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced the funding Thursday to support the state's Special Pathogen Response Network.
The network was established in 2014 to strengthen Michigan's emergency response to any new or emerging threat to public health, such as the Ebola virus. The network includes hospitals, local health departments and regional health care coalitions.
The state says hospitals and life-support agencies involved in the Special Pathogen Response Network will get a portion of the funds.
