Michigan Education Trust coming to Marquette to talk about saving for college

MARQUETTE, MI--   Two Michigan lawmakers are holding a meeting in Marquette to discuss saving for college.

Senator Tom Casperson and Representative Sara Cambensy are inviting parents to Peter White Public Library April 13 to learn about the Michigan Education Trust prepaid tuition program. During the meeting MET representatives will also unveil and discuss the results of a survey detailing the college savings habits of Upper Peninsula residents.

The MET program allows for the purchase of future college tuition credits based on current rates. It’s celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The meeting takes place Friday, April 13 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Peter White Library’s business reference room. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
