Marquette ordinance says no hammocks

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette Police are reminding residents that the use of tree hammocks in the city is prohibited.

Officials say numerous trees in the area have been damaged because people have attached hammocks to them. A city ordinance states that—unless specifically authorized by the City of Marquette Arborist—no person shall intentionally damage, cut, carve, attach any ropes, wires, nails, or other contrivance to any tree.

The Police Department says it appreciates the public’s compliance with the ordinance.
