Marquette installs car-charging station

MARQUETTE, MI--   A ChargePoint electric vehicle charging station has been installed in Marquette’s Bluff Street parking ramp.

The 240-volt dual charger is on the eastern end of the lower level. It can charge two electric vehicles at the same time. The Marquette Downtown Development Authority says the new station replaces an older, less reliable charging station that was no longer being repaired by its parent company.

The ChargePoint station will be available every day from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. It costs a flat rate of $1.00 plus $0.20 per kilowatt hour. Those who use the charger are still required to pay for parking at the pay station.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
