Marquette conference to focus on preventing suicide

MARQUETTE, MI--    Marquette is hosting the very first Upper Peninsula Suicide Prevention Conference on Monday. 

The conference features keynote speaker Dr. Michael Hogan of Hogan Health Solutions, LLC.  He most recently served as the Commissioner of Mental Health in New York from 2007-2012. 

It also features Kevin Hines, one of only 34 people to survive a jump from the Golden Gate Bridge.  He now gives talks about living mentally healthy. 

Breakout sessions will focus on Question Persuade Refer (QPR) Training; a discussion about veterans and suicide; the GLBT population and suicide; and Suicide Talk and the “Scared Bundle” project.

The conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marquette Holiday Inn.
