MAPS teachers vote to ratify contract proposal

MARQUETTE, MI--   A tentative agreement between Marquette Area Public Schools teachers and administration has been ratified by the Marquette Area Education Association. 

MAEA President Erin LaValley says 85 percent of the union turned out to vote on the contract Monday at the Landmark Inn.  The vote was 132 yes to 12 no. 

The MAPS board is scheduled to vote on the tentative contract at its September 22nd meeting. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
