Manistique suspect faces prelim for stealing cars

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A preliminary hearing is set for a Manistique man accused of stealing vehicles and destroying property.  

Jacob Gage, 26, was arrested last week in connection with incidents that happened in the city in the early morning hours of April 20.  He allegedly took vehicles from several driveways on North Houghton Avenue and Intake Park Road, then used them to destroy tree beds at the State of Michigan’s Wyman Nursery.

Gage is charged with two counts of unlawful driving away of an automobile, attempted unlawful driving away of an automobile, malicious destruction of personal property over $20,000, and larceny from a motor vehicle.

A preliminary exam is set for September 10 in Schoolcraft County District Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
