Man who took aim at deputies pleads in Menominee County

MENOMINEE, MI--   A Menominee Township man who shot at police during a disturbance over the weekend has already pleaded to the charge.

Saturday night the Sheriff’s Department was called to a residence on a report that an intoxicated man was firing a gun.  When deputies arrived they say Dave Thompson, 55, shot at them.  He initiated a standoff with police, but quickly surrendered.

Deputies executed a search warrant on Thompson’s home and found a number of firearms and a large amount of ammunition.

Thompson was charged Monday with intoxicated use of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and domestic violence.

He pleaded guilty to all charges against him, and will be sentenced August 6.
