Man who died during Ore to Shore identified

MARQUETTE, MI--   Officials have released the name of the racer who died during the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Race in Marquette over the weekend.  

City Police say the man is identified as Peter Joseph Bausch, 37, of Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

Authorities were notified that Bausch was overdue at the finish line at around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.  Police searched and found him just off the course near the 1900 block of Presque Isle Avenue.

Officials say an autopsy was conducted and results from the medical examiner’s office are pending.  No foul play is suspected. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
