Man threatens WI river tubers with shotgun

FLORENCE, WI (AP)--   Sheriff's deputies in Florence County have arrested a man accused of threatening some people with a gun on the Pine River.

Authorities got a call from a man who said he was tubing with family and friends on the river Saturday when the gunman appeared on shore. The caller said the man told the tubers the river belonged to him and pointed a shotgun at them.

Deputies secured the area and helped five groups of tubers off the river.

WJFW-TV says Oneida and Marinette County SWAT deputies located the 70-year-old man, who was taken to the Florence County Jail. Officials say a loaded rifle and shotgun and 280 rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene.
