UPDATE: Man stabbed in Escanaba

UPDATE:  Joshua Myers, 33, of Escanaba was arrested by officers from the Department of Public Safety. He's been arraigned on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Myers remains lodged in the Escanaba County Jail on an $80,000 bond.

ESCANABA, MI--   Police in Escanaba are investigating a stabbing in the city Monday afternoon.

The Department of Public Safety says it happened around 3 p.m. on the 800 block of 2nd Avenue South. Officers found the 26-year-old male victim with a 3- to 4-inch cut on his neck. The injury was superficial and the man was treated at the scene.

The suspect in the incident ran from the scene but was found in a nearby residence. Officers also recovered the knife allegedly used in the assault.

The suspect—a 33-year-old Escanaba man—was taken to St. Francis Hospital for injuries he sustained. Upon release he was arrested for felonious assault, aggravated assault, and possession of a controlled substance.

He remains lodged in the Delta County Jail, pending arraignment.
