Man with gun tries to get into Escanaba home

ESCANABA, MI--   A 30-year-old man is lodged in the Delta County Jail after a woman claimed he had a gun and tried to get into her house.

Sunday around 1:05 a.m. officers from the Escanaba Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a home on the 1400 block of 5th Avenue South. As they approached the suspect he fled on an ATV without headlights down 14th Street. A short chase ensued, but the suspect was eventually stopped on the 1300 block of 18th Avenue South.

Police say a loaded handgun was found on the man.

The suspect was arrested on charges of domestic violence, attempted home invasion, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding, and operating while intoxicated.

He remains lodged on a $125,000 bond, pending arraignment.
