Mackinac County man pleads in fatal motorcycle crash case

ST. IGNACE, MI--   A Curtis man has pleaded guilty in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash last May.

Andrew Loehr, 26, and a passenger were riding a motorcycle down Sandtown Road in Portage Township when he hit a vehicle. His passenger, Stephanie Maynard, 32, of Gould City, was killed in the crash.

Loehr was charged with operating while intoxicated, causing death and being a habitual offender, 3rd offense. He pleaded guilty Monday to operating while intoxicated, causing death.

Sentencing is set for December 8 in Mackinac County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
