Mackinac County bridge renamed after Navy SEAL dedicated

EPOUFETTE, MI (AP)--   Relatives and friends of a U.S. Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan have attended the dedication of a Michigan bridge renamed after him.

State Transportation officials said the ceremony was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Heath M. Robinson Memorial Cut River Bridge.

The bridge is in Mackinac County, between Epoufette and Brevort.  Military honor guard units and representatives from the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard also attended the dedication.

Robinson was among 30 American military personnel and eight members of the Afghan military killed when their Chinook helicopter was shot down in 2011 by insurgents in Wardak Province.

The 34-year-old Robinson was from Petoskey in northern Michigan.
